The lightness and strength of modern materials allows experiments with new area's for hydrofoils. Surprisingly it is even possible to get a kayak on hydrofoils as the flyak people have shown.
I wonder when the rowing athletes will make a hydrofoil rowing boat. James Grogono tried this in the seventies and had some success. So with all progress.
